Started The Mysterious Planet serial aand... it's a pity I have already been spoiled on Valeyard's true identity. I wonder what a great wtf moment that reveal would have been. But I'm anticipating it nevertheless. 8)

Yay, festive mood, surpisingly enough we has it! Mom got us lots of food and booze, so I should be off to cook now.
She bought me some bed sheets and bed covers, too. This makes me go "wow" each time I walk into the bedroom, 'cause now, most unusual, my bed looks like a proper one, omg.

Any New Year's resolutions? Yeah, I've got one. For 2011 I wish to finally learn how to make all those decisions and choices and deal with my life like a proper, responsible adult.

I also wish to get that tiniest sparkle of luck I so desperately need.

And all the best to anyone who might read this.
Happy New Year, world!

When do you get your holiday shopping done? Weeks before or last minute?

I prefer to do no holiday shopping at all. That saves me a hell of a lot of time. 8)

Ok, Chelsea will face Copenhagen. Away games in February, home games in March, as always.
I'm relieved, to be honest. And cautiously optimistic. I'm not saying that this is going to be an easy ride, but considering all the opponents that were available, our side's resent form... yes, do want.

There is life in our fish tank! We discovered a couple of tiny snails we hadn't known about. Perhaps they were brought in with the plants. They're so cute! And Mom just went to a petshop to get us three gold fishes. Can't wait! I love fish, they're the best pets. :D

Now that was hilarious! No, seriously, the last minutes were more like a sitcom than a football match. I laughed hysterically.
Also, it was nice to see Lamps and Drogba in action again. Didier's da man.

What is the best returning TV show of 2010? How long before it jumps the shark?

I'm afraid I've got no other choice but to say it's Doctor Who. Because, as I mentioned earlier, I haven't watched any new or returning show this year except. I probably seem to be very narrow-minded, do I not? :)

Can't say though that I loved series 5 unconditionally at once. In fact, I was rolling my eyes in mocking disbelief and going all "yeaaah, sure" in response to some characters' actions/words quite a lot while watching the series. As is pointed out in some reviews I read, the use of the daleks was quite questionable and not very plausible, plotholes and inconsistencies in characters' motivations were present and so on.
Yet I ended up caring about and sympathizing with pretty much all of the main characters - Eleven, Amy, Rory, River. Also I found the whole fairy tale arc fascinating, well executed and the grand finale fitting that arc perfectly. Yes, the latter left me desperately wanting more: more of newly weds in the TARDIS (the idea of marriage not meaning an end to adventures is lovely!), more of River's history revealed, more of Eleven's interaction with all of them and lots of other things.

As for the second question... I don't know. Series 5 had a feeling to it as though, in a sense, everything had just begun. :) On a more serious note, I suppose I'd love to see Doctor Who end with the end of the Thirteen era. (I recall as a time lord he can regenerate twelve times, hope I'm not imagining things). Whether the Doctor finally dies once and for all or just happily flies away from Earth in the TARDIS once and for all wouldn't make any difference to me. The essential thing I don't want is that they turn him into some kind of an immortal being or magically increase his number of regenerations left or do anything along these lines. But how many more series should the current Doctor and each of his successors have? I have no idea. If they manage to keep good writing and make right casting choices, I'd say no less than two for each of them, but I have no clue about TV shows production and how that all works behind the scenes, so. We'll see.

Which quote or motto best reflects your outlook on life?

Hmm, I'm constantly looking for such a thing and can never find one that suits me completely. Sigh.

What is the best new TV series of 2010?

Weeell, most shows I've seen this year are actually quite out of date. Many of them are from 90's or earlier, except New Who, its fifth series aired  in 2010, and I thought it was amazing, by the way. So I really can't say anything coherent on this subject. (Or should I then declare that DW is the best? I don't know, I don't know).

Leave me some recs here, if you want. Please?:) I'm not sure if I'll be able to check them anytime soon, in the foreseeable future I'm gonna be up to my neck in studying for the exams, but I still would love something to look forward to.

2018 & 2022

So, Russia and Qatar are to host World Cups 2018 and 2022, respectively. Although I'm russian, I'm not exactly over the moon right now. I don't care if there were any machinations behind the scenes, but I still feel bad for the USA and England. I'd vote for them without a second thought. If only I could. Ugh. I can't be sure about corruption in FIFA, but there's definitely something wrong with it. The only bright side in this all is that the Spanish bid was unsuccessful. That would have been awful if they didn't lose.

○ Star Trek: The Original Series
○ Star Trek: The Next Generation (sort of a rewatch)
○ Star Trek: Deep Space 9 (started watching in 2009) - twice
○ Star Trek: Voyager (started watching in 2009)
○ Doctor Who (new series 1-5 + specials, classic series 1-2)
○ Torchwood - twice
○ Babylon 5 - twice

When I look at this list it appears to me I spend too much time on sitting in front of the tv...

Now I don't really like what's going on in the club at the time.
People on important positions leaving (bye, Ray Wilkins, wish you all the best), key players getting injured and sitting on the bench, losing three games in a row plus only a draw against Newcastle last Sunday, Ancelotti being all "Oh don't worry, guys, we're super cool, it's just bad luck" (I, to put it mildly, can't believe it is)...
I haven't written anything about that until now not because I don't care. Of course I do. I'm simply not quite sure exactly how to react or what to make of that all. I don't think wailing "ZOMG everything is lost!!1" and pulling out hair would make any sense (btw, everything surely isn't). But I'm not on the "just bad luck" side of the pool, either.
Still, we're only two points behind MU. Our Champions League group looks ok too, though that latest victory against the club I couldn't spell the name of wasn't very inspiring, (as is the babbling about missed opportunities and learning to convert chances).
And, yes, Ancelotti announcing that he's not willing to go to the transfer market this winter is bothering.
The sad thing is that what we've been through in recent years seems to be repeating all over again. Sigh.

On a side note: The weather totally hates us miserable people living in this city. It's -25 °C and lower outside, oh my. *wants to stay in bed all day under a duvet with a mug of hot tea*

I just marathoned my way through all five series of (New) Doctor Who including the specials. "Drained" is not quite the word to describe my emotional state at the moment.

Went to bed at 2 am today, woke up at 9 pm.  T_T
Gawd, I ought to do something with my life.

(That's actually not so odd, considering that i hadn't slept for two days by the time i went to bed).

I endlessly love my boys in blue.

We are the team. We are the champions. And today is a blue day.

Now I know what pure happiness is like.

Thank you.
